abstract = "Since the 1970s, as advanced agricultural frontier in the center
of Brazil, there have been significant changes in land use in some
regions, because of inappropriate agricultural practices. Due to
these changes, the presence of erosive processes that resulted in
a great loss of soils, which are transported downstream, thus
causing impacts of sedimentation in the fluvial channels. The
Araguaia river is one of the rivers that suffer from this process,
having na average daily transport of suspended sediments of 2,
622,274 tons, in the years studied from 2002 to 2016. These
changes also generated a greater dynamics of sedimentation by the
sandbanks now they are depositing, another is eroding. Using high
resolution (Google Earth), it was possible to map the dynamics of
these sandbars in 6 distinct year and thus identify that they
varied from 247.56 kmē to 2057.15 kmē in the same stretch.
Understanding this sedimentar dynamics in water courses is of
great importance, since it has determined the feasibilty of
installing water projects, such as dams waterways, hydroelectic
plants like others. The use of satellite imagens can be seen as a
great tool in the management and monitoring of environments which
has of great environmental importance for living things.",
